earthshattering
Character
Name: Yosuke Hanamura
Series: Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4
Timeline: Post-Persona 4 Arena Storyline
Canon Resource Links: Main Game Info Page | Yosuke's Page .
Personality: On the exterior, Yosuke is a pretty cheerful and upbeat guy. He tries often to help anyone he can, though sometimes he can get a little frustrated. Even when his friends are down, Yosuke really tries to cheer them up or relax them, though he knows he's not as good at it as Souji/Yu. During the events of Persona 4 Arena, Yosuke is shown often trying to calm everyone down when three of their friends go missing (around the same time the midnight channel comes back). After he does this, Yosuke often thinks "Partner/Yu is better at this".
This really exposes how little Yosuke views himself. Despite being there for others, Yosuke really sees the reality of the people around him, and denies it sometimes. It's not completely fair to say that he hates everything, but since moving to Inaba, he does have a certain resentment for society. He can see people realistically, and knows for a fact that he is probably letting the walk all over him, but he still tries to help others. This is actually something his shadow mentions to him (predominantly in the anime). Yosuke often is helping people at work with their shifts since he's the manager's son, but they just use him to get out of work. Yosuke's a little jaded in the fact that he doesn't really believe in society itself, but he will do what he can to help others despite this view. This is also part of the reason Yosuke is initially excited about the mystery. Like his shadow exposed to him, Yosuke was looking for some sort of meaning and something to do, because living in the boondocks with people he didn't trust or truly like (save for Saki Konishi) and having this murder mystery was perfect.
Additionally, he may come off as cheerful and excited, but he can be very serious sometimes. During the events in Inaba, Yosuke was appropriate in his reactions and didn't often joke with others. He considers the situation and seriously reacts to a lot of things, but at the same time, this leaves him unable to take a joke sometimes. While Teddie may be inappropriate, Yosuke is often scolding him even though Teddie's intentions are just to cheer people up. Yosuke's seriousness, however, can be beneficial as he is often helping Souji/Yu come up with answers to the tougher questions in the case.
Regretfully, Yosuke does have a little bit of a temper. He tends to get angry first and while he doesn't often rush in, it clouds his judgment. Towards the end of the game, while they thought Nametame was the killer, Yosuke was willing to throw him into the TV and have him killed, because he believed Nametame killed Saki Konishi. However, Souji/Yu was able to calm him down quickly, so it's not like Yosuke's anger lasts for long.
Yosuke, however, has a bad case of foot in mouth syndrome. He's often saying things that he thinks and then immediately regretting them. His friends often understand and even point this out to tease him, especially Souji/Yu. Yosuke just takes it in stride and tries to think a little bit before he speaks, but it often doesn't work for him.
Generally though, Yosuke's a pretty good guy who often tries to do the best he can, but it sometimes doesn't work out for him.Either way, he tries to maintain a positive attitude for his sake and other's.
Strengths/Weaknesses:
Strengths:
Aside from being a Persona user, Yosuke is a very well rounded fighter. His persona's abilities have wind attacks that are fairly strong, as well as status boosting spells to assist the team. Not only that, but Yosuke without his persona handles two kunai and is incredibly quick. He often is able to land an attack before someone can move or notice, despite sometimes being a little clumsy. He's experienced with two handed weapons, such as knives and kunai.
Additionally, Yosuke can be very perceptive. While not as intelligent as the main character or Naoto, Yosuke is able to notice small things when it comes to people. Primarily this is noticable with Souji/Yu, someone he doesn't often have to have finish his sentences for him to get it. Additionally, he's very perceptive to people in general and is able to tell what kind of person they are.
Weaknesses
While Yosuke's a well rounded fighter, his attacks don't necessarily hit as hard as Souji/Yu's or Kanji's. While he has speed, he lacks a hard hit, so it often takes more then one to really knock down the enemy. Additionally, Yosuke can be a little bit clumsy. He's often going too fast and trips into something, or he can't control his bike well enough and ends up in a trash can.
Additionally, Yosuke has a huge weakness when it comes to Saki Konishi. Regardless of her living or not, he's often easily angered and/or distracted by her, so it's hard for him to focus.

Samples
First Person Sample: The sample must take place in Route_29's setting. Eight sentences is the minimum. This is a PokéConnect post--one that will be on the character's journal, broadcast to the network. Although it is short, it needs to show how your character would communicate with others, as well as be descriptive enough to express the character's voice without sounding too generic.
Third Person Sample: The sample must take place in Route_29's setting. The minimum is 300 words. Please note that what we are looking for is an inner working into the character’s thoughts and actions, and how the character responds to the setting, not something that could be taken as an excerpt fanfic. You may use other characters to bounce your characters actions off of, but everything should still be mostly from their point of view.
